The Yobe Government on Thursday introduced a new scale of measurement (mudu) for traders across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Gov. Mai Mala Buni made this known while presenting the new mudu to the leadership of traders’ associations and Shariah committees across the state in Damaturu.

Buni, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, noted that the scale would prevent consumers from being shortchanged by traders.

The introduction of the new weighing scales will promote honesty and adherence to Sharia standards in the market, particularly during these challenging times,” he said.

In his remarks, Alhaji Yusuf Umar, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Ethical Orientation, said the scales of measurement were procured by the ministry for fair transactions between buyers and sellers.

“The introduction of the new weighing scales is critical to ending sharp practices in our markets,” he said.
